I'll be doing my own fan restoration of 4 Flies - watch this space.  Cheesy

Would be VERY interested in seeing what that would turn out like, Marc... Wink

English subs for four flies, translated from the Italian audio are on my website now...

www.italianfilmtranslation.com

Hope you enjoy em'.

Now all we need is a composite!

(I'm v.glad to hear someone is already working on it.)

btw/ There are a couple of other new subs up, notably 'A Ciascuno il Suo' directed by Elio Petri.

Cheers for the subs DjangoLi  Wink

I haven't got the MYA disc as I'm waiting for the 01 release. Will it be easy to re-time them to fit the PAL release?

I don't see why not - You can use a program like subtitle workshop, it's very easy to retime subs. The only snag might be if they ( 01 ) manage to find the missing snippets of footage - in this case it becomes a bit more problematic.

I'll hold on and see how the 01 release turns out then. I have Sub Workshop so I'm sure if have a tinker with it I'll figure it out eventually.

As the MYA master is missing 48s of footage I would wait for a reconstruction to turn up which will most likely have fixed English audio and English subs for the Italian track.

If you release this Marc, I definitely want one.  Smiley

I'm not picky, but I'd like the option of both languages and the English subs.

Well waddya know...

The following info is from an 'official announcement' in a newsletter from the Profondo Rosso shop in Rome. As you all probably know, it's owned/run by Dario Argento and Luigi Cozzi.

Pinched and plundered from the gentedirispetto forum - posted by dan880

-----------------

In ye olde Anglais...

Good news and bad news. The good news is that the much sought after film by Dario Argento, Four Flies on Grey Velvet, has finally been released on dvd in the United States and an Italian release was announced for May by the distribution company 01, (Who are none other than RAI Cinema)

The bad news is that lawyers working for the Argento family have begun proceedings to stop both releases. Why? Because Dario and Claudio Argento, who own all territory rights except for America (where it's owned by Paramount) were only informed of this release by chance. An unknown foreign company sold the rights to Four Flies on Grey Velvet to RAI, but Dario and Claudio claim they never sold the rights to this unknown foreign company, so, according to them, they regard it is a gross act of audio/visual piracy.

Injunctions have already been issued to prevent the release of Four Flies on Grey Velvet in Italy. In the meantime, RAI has announced they have temporarily suspended distribution of Four Flies on Grey Velvet, at least until the rights issue has been cleared up.

(Dozey translation by Roky Erickson and the Aliens)

Looks like the MYA disc may well go up in price?

Also, it begs the question, how did they get hold of that master?

Decisions, Decisions....

If i don't get the Mya disc it will probably increase in value...

On the other hand if i do get it a better one will probably come out!

A catch-22 situation.

I wouldn't leave it too long, mate. I'd get one of these before you order your next couple of Shaw titles, to be honest.

It's worth noting that the issue with RAI 'waiting' for the rights issue to be cleared up puts Four Flies on Grey Velvet right back to square one. Unless someone passes some new laws in Italian parliament it's not going to come out any time soon.... (deja-vu!)
