Blood and Diamonds / Diamanti sporchi di sangue (Fernando di Leo, 1978)

(1/7) > >>

Stephen Grimes:
More classic di Leo this time starring Claudio Cassinelli as Guido Mauri who has just been released from a jail term and is soon involved in a situation where his wife ends up being killed, his paranoia gets the better of him thinking it's a set up involving his old crime boss Martin Balsam and goes looking for revenge.Great cast including Barbara Bouchet as a go go dancer and Pier Paolo Capponi supporting a dodgy looking moustache. Some of the music will be recognisable to anyone whose seen Mattei's VIRUS/HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD.
Recently got a lovely widescreen dupe of this from Lefteris which looks amazing, completely uncut and the best i've ever seen it.Essential**

Never seen this one but had a copy of it for a while now. A recommendation from you is a sure fire way to make me want to watch a film. I'll be checking this one out asap.

Jonny:
Classy film this! Definitely up there with Di Leo's best. Claudio Cassinelli does it again and manages to impress me even more than he did in 'Suspicious Death of a Minor' (he even looks to be wearing the same outfit in this as he does in Martino's film). Pier Paolo Capponi is great being all sweaty and mustachioed and I couldn't believe it when he turned up in bed with Bouchet! The fucking whore!  :-\

Nice to see Bouchet doing  her dancing again too, Di Leo seems to like her doing ths in his movies, which can only be a good thing! That disco song is nuts though, the lyrics mention Frankenstein and the Wolfman at one point, I'm sure of it!

Anyway, really good film and left me thinking about what I'd seen and actually looking forward to watching it again soon.
