This is one I haven't caught up with yet. I always thought it was part of the schoolgirls series but its here under the police & crime section.

Yeah, we chatted a bit about which category this should be in at the start of the thread. I suppose for the sake of consistency I should move it to the Gialli section because it is listed in Adrian Luther Smith's 'Blood and Black Lace' book...

It seems to straddle the genres with its Italian title. Even the Spanish title of ENIGMA ROSSO sounds like its trying to market itself as a police & crime film.

How is this new version compared to the German, Koch Media disc? That one looks great to me, but unfortunately doesn't have english subs for the Italian track (only English dub if I remember correctly...).

The Shameless DVD is essentially identical to the Koch Media release, English dub with brief subtitles for a tiny moment where Italian audio is only available.

I love the German disc and don't plan on buying the Shameless release. I will be buying RATMAN and PHANTOM OF DEATH though. I think they should try releasing films that aren't out on DVD anywhere in the world.

Paul, enjoyed your review. Just one small thing... Sergio Martino directed Suspected Death Of A Minor, not Umberto Lenzi - as you well know!

Good god - can't believe I wrote that - definitely knew that it was Martino too! Jonny, please can you amend it?

I had the old Redemption VHS of 'What Have They Done To Your Daughters?' and have just upgraded and received my Shameless DVD this morning. In small print it says on the DVD cover "Re-Edited and Longest Ever". I should stop being lazy and just check through myself but off hand, does anyone know if there are any differences to the Salvation print? Many thanks.

I think you mis quoted that cover blurb if I'm not mistaken Luca, shouldn't it read "Re-Edited and Longest Ever in the UK" ? Anyways, the differences between the Shameless and the Salvation DVD's, aside from vastly improved A/V quality, is that the opening titles are the original Italian titles and the segments that are sub-titled in the shameless release were slightly jumpy and dubbed in English. Full details can be read in the review of the Koch Media release (essentially the same print as the Shameless disc) at DVD times. DVD Times link

Cheers for the link and info Jonny. My DVD sleeve just states "Re-edited and longest ever" with no mention of the UK, which is what got me wondering if it contained anything extra to previous releases, but obviously not! Still looks like a great release anyway. I've reversed my sleeve for the more Euro Crime styled artwork.

Yeah, I've just got home and checked my copy and you're right. Infact it says 'longest ever' twice on the sleeve. Just as a point of reference I timed the Koch Media DVD and it comes in at 87m 03secs, the Shameless DVD clocks in at 87m 00secs.

Hm - I suspect that should have said 'in the UK' - we're such liars. It's the longest ever compared to the Redemption release at 86m 34s... I tell you our sleeves are becoming a right nightmare. Might be time just to issue them blank with a scribbled-on title!
