I have the Midnight release that`s sourced from the Japanese tape Jonny mentioned. Pretty nice looking, even with the Japanese subs. I don`t know of any legit release. Also have the beautifully packaged FDS soundtrack cd. This film gets slapped around by some folks but I think it`s pretty damn good....Great cast!

It was issued in the UK by Cinehollywood and Mercury video back in the early 1980s. I have the Cinehollywood release which is also very nice looking.

I really like this one despite all its obvious flaws - definitely one of my favourite giallos!
I love the slow motion chase on the beach, absurd as it is! 
It´s never been released on DVD as far as I know.
I have a copy of the Italian Cinehollywood vhs, which IMO looks better than the
japanese print, and of course does not have that annoying optical fogging.

The film was released in the US on video with the cover title THE SLASHER and the onscreen title THE SLASHER IS A SEX MANIAC.  I'm sure its cut.  There was also a hardcore insert version.

Silly but extremely enjoyable film with an absolutely outstanding cast! Of all the gialli out there that aren't on DVD yet, this is the most surprising. I should think it would have been given  DVD treatment a long time ago.

Btw, I love that slow motion beach scene too, Rogerio. Everyone comments on how silly it is but I think it's cool. Reminds me a little of NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS!

Yes, the hardcore version was re-edited and titled PENETRATION. Actors for the h/c scenes were Marc Stevens, Kim Pope, Tina Russell and Mr. Harry Reems.

Agreed. This should have been released years ago. There are gialli on DVD that are nowhere as good as SO SWEET SO DEAD! I love this movie!
