I'm sworn to secrecy, I do know that there's plenty of great interviews already filmed and in the can though.  Cheesy

Sounds great.  It's about time something like that was done on Italian crime films.  Cry

Great! While we're at it, how about a BLOOD AND BLACK LACE-style book on Italian crime films?

Yeah, word on my doc is spreading a little more lately, especially since I added the page on imdb. It was suggested I go ahead and do that, as I have informal representation at Marche Du Film (Cannes), and the imdb page will help legitimize the project in some people's eyes. Nonetheless, I'm hoping we can be discreet about it while it's still in production, and not post off board about it for now.

But I'm glad you guys know; I can't think of a more fitting bunch to be in the "inner circle."

Here are some frame caps from my recent on-camera Q&A with signore Nero, whom I interviewed in Miami (through the arrangement of this board's The Hunchback):

Again, I'd appreciate it if you didn't repost the image off board. But thanks for being interested! I'm going to make this one helluva feature-length doc that will really capture the spirit and excitement of the genre -- my obsession of the past three years!

In a previous post, the director asked us to keep quiet about the documentary.

It's funny; when I worked as a film journalist for print I would worry about making a good impression with my movie heroes -- like when I had breakfast with Robert Forster, and especially when I got a phone call from Patrick McGoohan (I actually lost my breath for a moment at the start of that conversation Shocked). But, ironically, not when I had to interview someone like Will Ferrell; Mr. Ferrell is a big star, but his movies don't mean as much to me (no disrespect intended).

Now, on these doc intvw shoots, there are so many variables that can go wrong that that's the only thing I have time to worry about. So you don't get nervous or starstruck about meeting the star. Instead, you get nervous about (a) will the star be on time, (b) will he be willing to talk about this or that, (c) will this DP I hired know what he's doing... etc etc etc.

It's actually very liberating in a sense, because it's a little sissy to get nervous about meeting a celebrity, but it's still perfectly manly to get nervous about your project being an utter disaster!  Lips sealed

Is it the same way with the various Marc Morrises and the Jay Slaters and whoever else on this board regularly has to interview entertainment personages?

In a previous post, the director asked us to keep quiet about the documentary.

Thanks, Magnus, for understanding. I guess, though, in the case of the imdb page, since it's already in existence, there's no harm in posting on it. Actually, it might show that the doc is genrerating buzz... who knows?

Thank you for being cautious but I spoke to the director by phone and he told me it was okay to do so.

Here's a little unofficial, mock-up artwork for the project. The guy at Cannes needed something visual, so I dummied this up.
