AKA From The Police With Thanks

A great film and one that came as a real surprise, given its director is synonymous with comedic films. I would also go as far as to say that the film was very influential on later poliziesco. A wonderful film, in my opinion.

Watching the remastered version from the Japanese dvd right at this moment, great to see it looking so good.
The soundtrack by Cipriani is top notch and i love Franco Fabrizi as Bettarini the scar faced villain,he's just as good in this as he was in Fellini's classic IL BIDONE.

Stephen is that a new release? I have the version put out by King Records in 2002/2003, but it's non-anamorphic.

No it's the King Records disc but i've been so used to seeing vhs p&s versions that it was a revelation to see this looking cleaned up,lbx and in English!

Just got to watch this one thanks to Stephen ;)

It didn't meet my expectations but I loved the final revelation of the movie (which lead to Salerno's murder), Laura Belli's nasty demise and the great music score by Stelvio Cipriani (which can be heard in a bunch of other crime films as well). A couple of the "execution" scenes that take place at night are kind of poorly lit and you can hardly see what's going on- I wanted more close-ups and something more graphic :) Mario Adorf was underused while Salerno was over the top at certain points but always great. Well worth watching though.

I heard it today in PROVINCIA VIOLENTA and DON'T SHOOT ON CHILDREN,doesn't go as well in these 2 as it does in LA POLIZIA RINGRAZIA though.Great soundtrack, very atmospheric in parts.

I think one of the music themes is also heard in WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS? right?

Yeah i think you're right mate.
I'm gonna give it another watch later tonight as it is very enjoyable,i thought the whole kidnapping plot was done very well.
Btw just found out that the kidnapper is played by a famous German pop star called Jurgen Drews,he was also in Aldo Lado's Short Night of the Glass Dolls and DID the commentary on the Kochmedia SE dvd.

Not quite, but there are at least 3 or 4 Cipriani scores that are very similar unless you listen carefully. :D

New dvd coming from Colosseo Film end of August:

This will be the sleeve design; IIRC the amaray itself will feature something along the lines of the German poster design:

Mastered in anamorphic 2.35 from the original camera negative.
Languages: German, English, Italian.
Extras include interviews with actor Jürgen Drews, co-producer Dieter Geissler and jack-of-all-trades Peter Berling. I am particularly interested in what Berling and Geissler will have to say as they are apparently also talking about their other work in Italy (possibly including their ever-so-scandalous MALADOLESCENZA). Unfortunately I am not yet sure whether the interviews will feature English subs.

Great news, anamorphic too. ::)

I'll still hang onto my Japanese one though as it's in a box set.

This is a really good film so I'm happy to hear about this new release. The Japanese disc wasn't bad for its time but an upgrade is definitely welcome!
